Child protection

At Gaztelu Beltza Xake Kluba (Beraun Bera Xake) we want every child and teenager who takes part in our school, classes and tournaments to do so in a safe, respectful environment free from any form of violence. That is why, in accordance with Spain's Organic Law 8/2021 on the comprehensive protection of children and adolescents against violence (LOPIVI), the club has approved a protection protocol and appointed a child protection officer.

Our commitment

  • The best interests of the child come before any sporting result.
  • Zero tolerance of any kind of violence, harassment, insults or discrimination, including on social media or messaging apps.
  • Everyone who works with minors at the club holds a clear certificate from the Central Register of Sex Offenders.
  • Ongoing child protection training for coaches, instructors and the board.
  • Respect for children's privacy and image: we only publish photographs with their families' consent.

Protection protocol

The protocol was approved by the Board on 1 October 2026 and is valid until 1 October 2027.

Certificate

The club holds the «Protocol for the protection of minors in sports settings» certificate from Kirol Eskola – Basque Government, valid until 1 October 2027.

  • Email: beraunberaajedrez@gmail.com, with «Protección de menores» (child protection) in the subject line.
  • In person: at the club, during classes and tournaments.

If you need help outside the club

  • Zeuk Esan – 116 111: the Basque Government's free, anonymous helpline for children and teenagers. Also by email at zeukesan@euskadi.eus.
  • Zure Taldekoak Gara: a Basque Government service for reporting violence in sport and asking for advice.
  • Emergencies: 112.

If you are under 18 and something makes you feel bad, uncomfortable or scared, tell an adult you trust, your instructor or the child protection officer, or call 116 111. It is not your fault and we will listen to you.
