On a chessboard, we all start with the same pieces

Chess knows nothing of age, sex or wealth. That is why at Beraun Bera Xake we dream of an Errenteria where nobody is left without playing: not the girl who discovers she is good at calculating, not the grandfather who sits down at a chessboard again, not the family looking for a place where their son or daughter with special needs feels like one of the group.

That dream does not hold up on its own. We need people, companies and institutions to walk alongside us. If you believe in chess for everyone, this is your club too.

Who we are

Gaztelu Beltza Xake Kluba, known as Beraun Bera Xake, is a non-profit sports organisation from Errenteria, founded in 1992.

Registered in the Basque Country Register of Sports Organisations under no. CD0007753.
Registered in the General Census of Volunteer Organisations of the Basque Country under no. 574-2026-G.

The whole club is run by volunteers

Everyone who makes the club possible —those who teach, organise the tournaments, accompany the teams or keep the accounts— does so as a volunteer, without being paid. That is why every contribution we receive goes to what really matters: helping more people play chess.

Our commitment

What we use every resource for

Regardless of each person's sex, age or financial means, we work along three lines:

Chess for all of Errenteria

We bring chess to anyone in the town, so that money is never a barrier to learning, playing and competing.

Chess and women

We encourage more girls and women to play, compete and teach, and to feel they are the protagonists of a sport that is theirs too.

Chess without barriers

We support families with people with special needs so that they can play chess, adapting to each person so that the chessboard becomes a meeting place.
